Roy Black, a outstanding Miami protection lawyer whose purchasers included Jeffrey Epstein and William Kennedy Smith has died on the age of 80, his regulation companion stated Tuesday.
The Miami Herald reported that Black, a father of two, died on Monday at his dwelling in Coral Gables.
“For more than 30 years, Roy was my teacher, mentor and friend,” stated his regulation companion, Howard Srebnick, in an electronic mail to The Related Press. “The loss(es) I feel personally and professionally are immeasurable.”
Black represented, and received, a slew of high-profile purchasers, together with Justin Bieber and race automobile driver Helio Castroneves.
In Miami, Black was seen in authorized circles because the GOAT, the best of all time, stated fellow protection lawyer David O. Markus, who in contrast his late colleague to NBA Corridor of Famer Michael Jordan.
“He worked harder than any lawyer I know. And he outlawyered every prosecutor who he ever went up against. I will miss him. His impact on criminal defense is beyond measure,” Markus stated in an electronic mail to the information outlet.
Smith’s 1991 trial drew nationwide consideration and was televised after he was charged with assaulting a lady in Palm Seashore after an evening of ingesting. He was acquitted of the fees towards him.
