Former Little League star Mo’ne Davis attempting to get again into baseball.
Davis, 24, will check out for the brand new Ladies’s Skilled Baseball League at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., from Aug. 22-25.
She’ll give issues a go at pitcher, second base, shortstop and middle subject.
After final enjoying baseball in 2020, she mentioned she was prepared to offer issues one other go.
“I like to try things,” Davis instructed The Philadelphia Inquirer on Friday. “And this was something that I was like, ‘You know what, why not give it a try? Why not help the league grow?’ I’m just not done playing at all. … I don’t have anything to lose. It’s not like I’m older, and it’s my last [season to play]. I have plenty of years that I can keep going, so I’m just going to give it a try.”
She’ll be joined by 600 different girls, with solely 150 getting chosen to be part of the inaugural six-team draft. Play is about to get underway in the summertime of 2026, making it the primary U.S. skilled baseball league for ladies because the All-American Women Skilled Baseball League, which was dissolved in 1954.
Davis burst onto the baseball scene at simply 13 when she debuted on the 2014 Little League World Sequence for Taney Little League (Pennsylvania).
Within the group’s first recreation, she turned the primary ever lady to document a victory and shoutout on the mound in a 4-0 win over Tennessee.
This catapulted her into the worldwide highlight and made her a family title.
“I never thought that I would be a role model at this age…so I just have to be myself,” Davis mentioned throughout that Little League run.
Due to her historic stint within the Little League World Sequence, she appeared on the quilt of Sports activities Illustrated, and her jersey was positioned within the Baseball Corridor of Fame.
She later performed softball on the College of Hampton and graduated in 2023. Over two seasons at Hampton, she collected 47 hits with a .327 on-base proportion.
