Jennifer Lopez obtained candid about how her 17-year-old twins helped her via the robust 12 months she had after splitting with ex-husband Ben Affleck following two years of marriage.
“I said, ‘I promise you, this is a difficult time, but you’re going to see that I’ll come out the other side stronger and better.’ I promised them that and I did it,” the singer, 55, who had her kids with ex-husband Marc Anthony, informed Spanish paper El País.
Lopez added, “And they feel it now. That gives me a great sense of peace in my life.”
The couple tied the knot in 2022, practically twenty years after calling off their first engagement.
In August 2024, the artist filed for divorce from the actor, 52, The pair finalized their cut up in January.
“I’m happier that I’m a step further along than I was a year ago, two years ago, three years ago… I’m proud of myself for that and I’m proud that I was able to navigate my children through difficult times, that they’re stronger and better because of it,” Lopez defined. “So, it’s a great time to go out there and dance and sing and have a good time with everybody.”
This isn’t the primary time the Grammy nominee has spoken candidly in regards to the breakup. In October, Lopez informed Interview Journal she has no regrets about their relationship.
“That doesn’t mean it didn’t almost take me out for good. It almost did,” she stated. “But now, on the other side of it, I think to myself, ‘F–k, that is exactly what I needed. Thank you, God. I’m sorry it took me so long. I’m sorry that you had to do this to me so many times.’ ”
On the time of their cut up, rumors surfaced about how onerous the hitmaker allegedly tried to make issues work the second time round.
