Police are investigating an incident that was caught on video through which BYU cheerleading coach Jocelyn Allan was struck within the head by a water bottle thrown by a fan after the workforce’s sport in opposition to Utah on Saturday.
Video obtained by the Deseret Information exhibits Allan getting struck within the face by a water bottle and collapsing to the bottom.
Members of BYU’s cheer workforce and police instantly rushed to assist the coach.
Allan mentioned that she “lost consciousness” through the incident in a publish that she wrote on Instagram describing the predicament.
“At the conclusion of tonight’s BYU/Utah game, a Utah fan in the table seats in the south endzone threw a water bottle and hit me directly in the head,” Allan wrote on the social media platform.
“I lost consciousness but thankfully was lowered to the ground by one of my cheerleaders. Police are going over video footage to identify the seats that it came from (we have a pretty good idea). If you saw the incident, or have any info on the family who owns that particular box, please contact me. Thank you!”
Utah followers threw particles on the sector after the Utes misplaced at house to in-state rival BYU, 22-21.
“The incident is still being reviewed, and we won’t be providing further comment right now,” a BYU spokesperson advised the Deseret Information.
