Legendary Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich has coached his final sport.
“Gregg Popovich will no longer be Head Coach of the San Antonio Spurs and is transitioning full-time to Team President, sources told ESPN,” Shams Charania reported Friday morning.
Popovich is a Basketball Corridor of Famer and the NBA’s winningest coach of all time.
He led San Antonio to 5 championships in 29 seasons.
The transfer comes after the 76-year-old stepped away from teaching the staff in February as he recovered from struggling a stroke in November.
He then made headlines with one other well being scare simply weeks in the past after he fainted in a restaurant and needed to be taken away in an ambulance.
