The Metropolitan Transportation Authority has positioned a $2.4 billion order with French practice maker Alstom to ship M-9A railcars for the Lengthy Island Rail Street and Metro-North Rail Street, the corporate stated Friday.
The contract, which was introduced by MTA in June, will probably be booked within the second quarter of the 2025-26 fiscal yr, Alstom stated.
MTA final month stated that pilot railcars from Alstom can be delivered in 2029 and enter passenger service on the Lengthy Island Rail Street in 2030.
All 316 railcars that had been a part of this order had been anticipated to be delivered by 2032, it added.
